Donald Trump and country music star Lee Greenwood are working together to sell expensive Bibles.
According to the website, the “God Bless the U.S.A. Bible” is priced at $59.99, but remember, that doesn’t cover shipping and extra fees.
This collaboration is happening when the expected Republican candidate for president is experiencing a significant increase in his wealth on paper, with billions of dollars added to his net worth. However, he’s also dealing with hefty civil penalties in various court cases.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump kicked off his promotion of a collection of high-end Bibles in collaboration with country music sensation Lee Greenwood. You know, the guy behind the iconic song “God Bless the U.S.A.,” which you’ve probably heard at Trump’s rallies.
Donald Trump and Lee Greenwood team up to promote pricey Bibles. Trump stresses the importance of having a Bible at home in a video on Truth Social.
He declared, “I believe that we need to bring religion and Christianity back because they are the biggest things missing from this country.” It’s among our most serious issues. We’ve lost faith in our nation, which is the reason it’s going crazy.
Churches are usually more than willing to give out copies of the world’s best-selling book, the omnipresent Christian sacred scripture. In addition, you may read the Bible for free on many other websites and applications, as well as at hotels and other locations.
For that price, buyers get extra features not usually found in regular Bibles.
The Donald Trump-Greenwood Bible, a King James translation, includes a copy of a “handwritten chorus” to the eponymous Greenwood hit, according to the website.
According to the website, it also contains the Pledge of Allegiance, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the U.S. Constitution.
According to the website, it’s the “only Bible” that both Greenwood and Trump have approved. It says this is “the only Bible inspired by God Bless the USA, America’s most well-known patriotic anthem.”
The text is also printed in a large font that highlights the words of Jesus in red, per the site.
It wasn’t immediately clear how much profit Trump and Greenwood would earn from the promotion.
This partnership arises during a particularly turbulent time for Donald Trump’s finances.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s net worth has surged by billions of dollars due to a successful merger, as his media company now trades publicly on the Nasdaq.
Though he will have to wait months to profit from his investment in that firm, he only has a few days to raise $175 million for an appeal bond, which would prevent the state of New York from executing a $454 million civil fraud judgment against him.
Donald Trump is facing substantial civil judgments, including a federal jury verdict demanding him to pay $83.3 million for defaming writer E. Jean Carroll. She accused him of raping her years ago.
Donald Trump’s political fundraising operation, meanwhile, is falling far behind the campaign of his rival, Democratic incumbent President Joe Biden. Trump said Monday that he “might” put his own money into his White House bid.
The website selling the Trump-backed Bibles states that none of the proceeds will support the Trump campaign.
The site says it “is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign.”
The website “GodBlessTheUSABible.com” is not affiliated with Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Ventures LLC, or any of their associates or affiliates.
Instead, the website clarifies that it has obtained a license from CIC Ventures to use Trump’s name, likeness, and image.
Trump’s financial disclosure for 2023 reveals that he earned over $5 million from speaking engagements through CIC Ventures.
